Mare-MAGE-DB contains data of the dedicated 12s rRNA mitochondrial (12s) gene and cytochrome c oxidase I (COI) gene for fish, collected from NCBI and EMBL-ENA , which includes squences of species that are 99% sure database, Mare- MAGE-DB90, and a database given for the complete gene which is Mare- MAGE-DBc. In addition, Mare-MAGE-DB contains a revised taxonomic according to FishBase.

Future projects
In the immediate future, we plan to develop and implement a number of online analysis tools and to expand the database to include more genes and fish specific regions, as well as a database dedicated to the North Sea. We will publish also the referencial mitochondrial genome and others genes.
This should enable the user community to actively participate in improving the quality of the Mare-MAGE-DB and should ensure that time-consuming manual improvements to the sequence and sequence-related data, including taxonomic corrections, are propagated for the benefit of the entire community.
